Apple prepares to unveil the HomeView smart hub

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple could introduce the Siri-powered device on Tuesday alongside updates to Apple TV and HomePod mini.
Apple is preparing to unveil a new smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device stands out because it would mark a fresh Apple push into the smart home market, where the company’s earlier efforts struggled to gain much traction. After years of rumors about a home-focused Apple device, the report now gives the product both a name and a launch date. That makes this more than another round of speculation.
The report also suggests Apple wants a more central role in how people manage connected devices around the home, rather than staying mostly on the sidelines with software frameworks or a speaker.
A Siri-powered hub with a display
Gurman described the HomeView as a Siri-powered device with a display and an A18 chip. In practical terms, it looks like Apple is preparing a product that can act as a control point for other smart home devices, rather than just adding another accessory to the lineup.
According to IT-PUB News, the report says the HomeView will come in two versions. One model is designed for countertops, while the other can be mounted on a wall. That split suggests Apple is trying to fit the device into different rooms and daily routines, from kitchens to hallways.
Apple makes another serious bid for the home
The smart home has been a difficult category for Apple. Gurman said this would be the company’s most serious bet on the segment so far, after the limited success of the HomeKit software framework and the HomePod smart speaker.
That history helps explain why the expected announcement is getting attention. Apple is closely associated with phones, computers, tablets, and wearables, but the home poses a different challenge. Devices in this category have to work in shared spaces and become part of everyday habits, often alongside lights, locks, speakers, and thermostats.
The HomeView appears to be Apple’s answer to that problem. By combining a display, Siri, and a dedicated chip, the company seems to be aiming for a more visible and practical home control device than what it has offered before.
Apple is also expected to refresh other home products
The HomeView is not the only product expected on Tuesday. Gurman reported that Apple will also unveil updated versions of the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini.
That matters because it suggests Apple is not treating the HomeView as a one-off experiment. Instead, the company appears to be updating several parts of its home lineup at the same time, which could help create a more connected ecosystem for people already using Apple devices.
Earlier this week, Gurman also said Apple plans to announce a partnership with LG to create a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell. If confirmed, that would push Apple’s home strategy beyond its own hardware and into devices tied to everyday household security and comfort.
Why the HomeView launch could matter
Apple’s smart home plans are drawing attention not just because of the company’s name, but because of what this product could represent. A display-based hub could make connected home controls easier to use for people who want one place to manage devices instead of jumping between apps or relying only on voice commands.
At the same time, the report underlines how uncertain Apple’s position in this market still is. The company is making another serious attempt after earlier products did not become major hits. That leaves a real question over whether the HomeView will be enough to change its standing in the category.
